Thumbing the wooden body, her curves gleam dark. We hum the trembling vibrations. Leave a mark, a handprint on her neck, plum-bruising thigh. I move and sigh.
We taste of resin, bitter, woody, dry and sweet, she curls around my hand like flesh, my hair wound in her pegs, twined tuning high, woven in the mesh.
(Rain-wreathed, your silhouette dissolving in the clean lines that we made, together, given up without regret, or so we prayed, made the oldest threads of music new and young love unsung.)
